Silicon-Calcium-barium alloy is a new type of high-efficiency composite alloy in barium alloys as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer and dephosphorization agent in steelmaking, as well as an inoculant and modifier in casting. Barium is known to effectively reduce the vapor pressure of calcium within the given steel making temperature range and increase the solubility of calcium in molten steel. Compared to the silicon-calcium alloy, the silicon-barium-calcium alloy is a better source of calcium in molten steel. By using the silicon barium calsium, even after cutting the added calcium amount to half, the calcium content in the molten steel remains about twice as much. The calcium content is also significantly increased in molten steel this way. It proven that barium effectively shelters the calcium structure from excessive oxidation, thus brings a better overall product quality and durability.
