Zirconium Ferro Silicon, also known as silicon zirconium, is a ferrosilicon-based alloy perfectly proportionating zirconium. It can be used as an inoculant and preconditioner in gray and ductile iron. Zirconium Ferro silicon can reduce chill in areas of the casting which cool more rapidly. The application of this inoculant will refine the graphite shape in thin or heavier sections. It is recommended as ladle inoculant and stream inoculant.
Because zirconium is one of the strongest deoxidizers in steelmaking and the special role of zirconium in steel, zirconium iron is used as a deoxidizer and alloy additive for special-purpose high-temperature alloys, low-alloy high-strength steels, ultra-high-strength steels and cast irons. In turn, it is used in atomic technology, aerospace manufacturing, radio technology, etc. Ferrosilicon zirconium can be produced by refining composite Si-containing alloys.
